Power Supply Projects have recently started work to complete the renewal of the 25kV Structure Mounted Outdoor Switchgear (SMOS) equipment and associated cabling at Network Rails RIDC (Rail innovation and development Centre) site at Melton. PSP are the Principal Contractor for these works and have a full CDM area set up.

These works consist of:

  • Renewal of circuits at 2 No sites – replacing life expired GEC OX36 circuit breakers with new Secheron ORS25 CB’s and SADTEM CT’s / VT’s
  • Replace existing control and indication cabling between the depots relay room and substation compounds
  • Renewal of damaged wooden pole route supporting interconnecting Pilot Cables
  • Renewal of Protection relays found to be non functional following an intrusive survey.
  • Replacement of the existing batteries and charger

    Construction is fully underway and the team on site are pushing forward ahead of the Testing/Commissioning and EIS activities.
